What is GLAAHI?

The Greater Lansing African American Health Institute is a non-profit 501c3 organization that provides education, information, advocacy, and outreach about health matters that affect people of African descent in the Ingham County area. Although African Americans are our target population, all of our services are free and open to the public. GLAAHI addresses the health disparities between minority and majority populations and takes action in our community to "level the playing field" where health issues are concerned.

Our Mission

The Greater Lansing African American Health Institute (GLAAHI) will mobilize the greater Lansing community to address the issue of health disparities among individuals and families of African descent.

Additionally, GLAAHI will provide education, outreach, advocacy, and coalition building on all aspects of health concerns including physical, mental, oral and environmental health.

Our Purpose

There is a growing awareness of health disparities between African Americans and the majority population.

The Ingham County Health Department and GLAAHI are working together to improve the health of the African American community in Ingham County.

GLAAHI needs volunteers in its health promotion activities. Contact us to find out more!
